Achilles tyre have announced a three car drift team based out of Perth and headed up by the “Godfather of Drift” Danny “Denzo” Vahoumis. The team will include three identically liveried cars and Vahoumis will be joined by a WA state drift Champion Nicholas Van Geest and Perth drift hotshot Joe Waghorn.
“We are very excited to be involved with Achilles tyre” said Vahoumis “these guys are the new kida on the block but I can tell you we believe they have an absolutely killer product. We have done limited testing on their new “drift specific” tyre, as it is a very new product, and needless to say, we are extremely happy with the results. Expect to see big things from us at Eastern Creek.”
Knowing Denzo’s reputation, we do not take that as an idle threat.
All three of these guys are at the top of their game in the WA drift series and all have extremely high powered vehicles. Denzo’s S15 has recently undergone a full overhaul and now includes a dry sump E85 fuelled engine producing well over 600 horsepower. His team mates’ cars are not far off that figure either. When we asked Denzo what he thought of the new setup he said: “Honestly… It’s insane!”
