When someone sends me a picture of two pretty girls standing in front of their car, they are bound to get a good story by the World Time Attack crew seeing our office is staffed by normal hot blooded males. But this car actually has a pretty good story behind it anyway.
You see this car and its owner, Jeff Denmeade have ventured over to Colorado USA where, once a year the most famous hill climb in the world takes place at Pikes Peak and not only was he one of the few Aussies to compete, but he also reset the class record for the time attack class on the way to clenching the class win, making him the first Australian ever to do so. But that’s not all he also won the class at Mt Buller and holds the current record at the Huntley Hillclimb too!
And what makes all these things even more amazing is that this is a long way from a highly modified Evo. It features a standard engine with only a set of camshafts a Meek Automotive dump pipe and inlet and outlet pipes and a Ralliart rear diff and a set of Elig brake pads. This is testament to the factory Mitsubishi product, the setup by the Meek crew and the driving skills of Jeff Denmeade.
It will certainly be interesting to see how these guys go against some much more wildly modified machinery. Reading through Jeffs resume he appears to have quite a history and claims a class win the Nurburgring in a Group N BMW E36 M3 was a former test driver for BMW USA and a factory driver for the Audi USA team and still holds records at some tracks at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen race tracks in the US.
He also claims to be one of only nine authorised “on track” drivers by AMG Mercedes which is quite an achievement. This could well be one guy to keep a real eye on in August!
