That’s right, the legendary Daigo Saito has confirmed he will be returning to Sydney in October and will be competing in the 1200hp Lexus SC430 that won the Formula Drift Championship back in 2012. This is serious piece of kit built by Bridges Racing USA with all top shelf components and according to Daigo will be ideally suited to the high speed Sydney Motorsport Park Layout.

The Lexus is powered by a nitrous oxide injected turbo 3.4 litre 2JZ Toyota engine that is rumoured to pump out an eye watering 1200 horsepower. This is the same combo that saw Saito record an amazing six outright victories in Formula Drift USA between 2012 and 2014 and score and TEN podiums!

For those living under a rock Daigo Saito is without question one of the most successful drivers in the history of drifting. He has won everything from D1GP Japan, Formula Drift USA, Formula Drift Asia, and many more and in 2017 is seriously planning on winning the Honeywell Garrett Drift Challenge against the best Australia and New Zealand has to offer! He has competed several times at WTAC including last year in his insane Lamborghini Murceilago drift car.

“I always love coming to Australia, the fans there are the best” said Saito “and it was a lot of fun in the Lamborghini last year, but that is really a demo car. this year I want to come back and win. I plan on banging doors and putting on one hell of a show in one of the most powerful cars I have ever driven! And hopefully bringing the big trophy back to Japan with me. See you guys in October.”

One thing is for certain, come October there will certainly be some action going down at the Honeywell Garrett Drift Challenge. Don’t miss your chance to see top international drifters from around the world go head to head in this no-holds barred event!
