Event Day 1 Highlights: Thrills and Spills

Day 1 of the 2013 Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge certainly didn’t disappoint with some of the Best Time Attack Racing to date. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing, Gorilla Industries Supra hit the wall at a high speed causing substantial damage.

The RTR Evo X met with a similar fate while pushing to better their time of 1:42.5150.

We watched in horror as the MG Metro Group B car, out for an exhibition lap was engulfed in flames.

And Beau Yates and Anthony Cece both suffering damage during drift practice.

And even here in the war room of WTAC we watched as our servers hit the wall from the traffic, causing website outages throughout the day. With a bit of luck it should hold together for today, but in the case of any outages we will continue updating through our facebook page.

However it wasn’t all doom and gloom. Friday also brought huge success to teams like Tilton interiors who, with a 1:24:85, took the lead and reset Nemo’s 2012 record lap time.

With only a second seperating Nemo, MCA, Under Suzuki and Top Fuel – we should be in for some close racing on Saturday. Will Nemo be able to snatch victory back from Tilton? Who will reign supreme in the battle of the rear wheel drive cars? One thing’s for certain, Saturday is not to be missed!
