The question on everyone’s lips since they laid down the sizzling lap time at Tsukuba in December is “Is Garage Revolution bringing the RX7 to World Time Attack?” And the answer is most certainly YES!
The sizzling time we are referring to is a time of 53.673, which puts this car within one tenth of the HKS CT230R record time of 53.589 set by Nob Tanaguchi in 2007 and making this now by far the fastest time attack RX7 in Japan and probably the world. With 600 horsepower and weight of 960kg along with a Super GT influenced aero package this team makes no secret that they intend be at the pointy end of the field at Eastern Creek in August

This car is almost entirely handcrafted by Aoki-san and his team of dedicated crew at the Garage Revolution headquarters in Saitama. The dry carbon bodywork is the work of RE Amimeya and many of the other carbon components are manufactured in house by the team at garage Revolution in old technical college ovens converted to autoclaves. The list of components manufactured in house is quite staggering and even includes the dampers which are made entirely by Garage Revolution on CNC machines they bought especially for this purpose, but dont start getting any ideas of Super GT type development budgets or the like, this car is built, tested and run solely by Aoki-san and his group of loyal and dedicated employees at Garage Revolution with support from Hankook.

This car has been in a state of constant development since it debuted in 2008 at Tsukuba with a time of 56.09 and has continued to improve with many changes to the aero package and the 13B twin rotor engine now sporting a specially constructed GCG turbo giving more power and response coupled to a Hewland sequential 6 speed gearbox and dinner plate sized Project Mu brakes all round.

“Garage Revolution is very excited to be competing in the World Time Attack Challenge” said Superlap International Operations Manager Munatake Hara “This car is a world class time attack car that has been purpose built to compete in events like this and with two years of testing and development now behind them, Garage Revolution certainly feel that they are ready to compete with the fastest time attack cars in the world”
One thing we know for sure is that we are now in for a time attack showdown of epic proportions. With country against country, tuner against tuner, 4WD against RWD, piston against rotary and all at one of the best tracks in the world – Eastern Creek International raceway! We can’t wait!

The aero on the rear of that car is so out there it’s scary.
Anyone know who the driver is?
Very nice indeed!
