We are proud to announce that HKS will be making a return to international time attack competition in a freshly prepared 1200+ horsepower R35 GTR in the Motul R35 GTR one make class with Nob Taniguchi behind the wheel!
This car in true HKS fashion is built for a purpose and features a full house 4.1 litre stroker engine full of HKS components and built in house by the HKS racing division, feeding through a HKS clutch and transmission.
This will be the first time that HKS will compete on an international level since retiring the now legendary CT230R in 2007. The build is world class and features lightweight carbon panels and virtually the entire HKS catalogue of tuning components. Naturally Nob Taniguchi will be behind the wheel and with a top speed of well over 320km/h this is will certainly be a thrill to watch around Sydney Motorsport Park in October.
“This is the first of several big name tuners that have already confirmed for the R35 class and certainly one that we welcome back to the sport they have played such a big part in over the years, and after seeing this car testing at Fuji Speedway in January I can tell you it is crazy fast” said Superlap CEO Ian Baker “HKS never mess around and will make a big statement for sure, but they will also have some very tough competition as you will see in the coming weeks. We are certainly in for an amazing show this year and are honoured that such an iconic company like HKS can be a part of it”
“HKS are proud to be returning to international time attack competition in what we believe should be a very competitive vehicle” said HKS racing director Akihito Mochizuki.
“This is a very exciting time for HKS both in Australia and worldwide” said Bruce Woodward from HKS Australia “not since 2002 when the HKS R33 competed in drag combat has HKS competed on Australian soil and the R35 GTR really does showcase the companies abilities and the quality of their products perfectly and in fact most of the parts on this car are available straight from the HKS catalogue.”
