Luke Fink returns with a wild new ride

The big news for team Australia in the Tectaloy Drift Challenge in recent weeks is that 2009 Drift Australia Champion, Luke Fink will be competing in a pro built 180SX with Queensland based team Japanese Parts and Performance.

Luke Fink was 2003 World Street BMX champion before making the progression to four wheels and Drift Australia in 2006 where he quickly became a force to be reckoned with and by 2008 finished on the podium on nearly every single round and gained the reputation as “the last guy you would want to meet in the final”

With the GFC in full effect by 2009 and Drift Australia cut back to a single round at Oran park Fink once again showed his skill and prowess by taking the victory in the bright green Holfords Motors Silvia from team CTS.

In 2010 Fink was contracted to Team Svernside in the hotly contested “JDM Allstars” series run out of the United Kingdom and the flagship series for top drivers and teams from all over Europe which culminated on September 5th with Fink being declared the 2010 JDM Allstars Drift Champion and the first Australian ever to win a drift series outside of Australia.

The recent signing with Japanese Parts and Performance team was timed perfectly for the Tectaloy International Drift challenge. The car Luke will be driving is a newly built S13 180SX with all the best equipment and is powered by a similar power plant to the Scorch Racing Time Attack S15 a SR20 with a VE cylinder head from the P12 Primera giving the SR20 the ability to make a much bigger punch without sacrificing mid range power.

“Obviously with the best drifters from around Australia all looking to enter and the top guys from D1NZ also making the trip over, to be competitive I would need to be in a pro built car and the guys from JPP have delivered in every way. The SR20 VE engine is very light and extremely powerful and the car is built to an extremely high standard. We will certainly be having a big go!” said Luke Fink “and it will be great to be back in competition once again”
