Notaras back for Pro Class Assault

After a drama filled 2010 World Time Attack event where the Notaras Motorsport Evo only made a few laps with V8 Supercar driver Steve Owen the team will be returning in 2011 with a much more refined weapon. They now have a dry sump on the engine and further improvements to the aero and horsepower and look forward to hitting the Eastern Creek circuit with a vengeance. This year they will employ the services of rally ace and fellow Canberra resident Rick Bates to handle the wheel work.

“ At Notaras Motorsport we develop a lot of our own products and this is the car that we use to test them on. As this is a business to us we are all about showcasing what we can do for our customers and this car we could easily replicate for a customer” said team principle Martin Notaras.

“This car is built to a sensible budget and we intend on pushing as far toward the front as we can with what we have. Don’t get me wrong this car has a lot of good bits in it but we certainly don’t have access the mega dollar bits that some of the front running teams are using. Having said that we do expect a reasonable result with the changes we have made this year. ”

The big changes to the aero come in the form of the tried and tested Voltex front bar, under tray and bonnet and are confident this will provide them much greater stability on the sweeping aero friendly Eastern Creek circuit. They are also one of the few Pro Class teams using the Kumho Vecsta V78 soft compound tyres continuing a long association with this tyre brand. The team will be supported by Kumho for the event along with Pro Speed racing and long time sponsors and local Canberra business Revell steering.

Whilst the Notaras team may have had their own pile of problems last year they certainly did not mess about in putting their hand up to help the Cyber Evo guys when they had a terminal engine failure on the practice day and destroyed their cylinder head. They supplied the Cyber team with their spare head and to be honest had this not have happened, the 2010 results would have read totally different and the Cyber team were so happy with the help they got – they plastered the door with a Notaras decal!
