Another Superlap veteran that will be returning in a highly revised and much more sinister looking S15 Silvia is Greg “Stretch” Boyle from Autosport Engineering in Kirawee Sydney.. This car was formerly orange and actually competed in the very first Superlap in 2008 although looking at the new wide body version you would never guess it was the same car. The one thing that does remain though is the fire breathing RB26 engine under the hood. This has been suitably “breathed on” to give a nice reliable power output “over” 350rwkw which in a nice lightweight body of around 1200kg makes for quite a formidable weapon. And speaking of light weight, this issue has been addressed in the form of copious amounts of carbon fibre replacing the heavy steel standard components.
The bonnet, boot and doors have been upgraded to carbon and a nice fat 75mm widebody kit has been added before copping multiple layers of beautiful pitch black paintwork. The wheels are fitted with some of the biggest rubber of any of the cars competing with 275/35/18s up front and monster 315/30/18 Toyo R888 hoops on the rear. These are mounted around huge ATTKD brakes front and rear with 8 spot front callipers and 6 spot rears.
Greg Boyle has many years of racing experience and was the 2009 Southern Sporting car club champion and the 2008 MRA champion in this very car. He has also taken several class wins at Targa Tasmania in a Mitsubishi Evo and numerous other track and tarmac rally events around Australia. In parting he mentioned something about a new E85 powered 2.9 litre RB engine for the S15 and an OS88 sequential gearbox to replace the RB25 box but only time will tell if this eventuates before World Time Attack
