Anyone who has ever watched a Motive DVD will be familiar with the S14 project build dubbed “JET 200”. Andrew Hawkins is the man behind both the DVD production and the car and after three and a half years in the build, JET 200 is about to debut at the World Time Attack Challenge.
The car was featured in the “Blood Sweat and Gears” TV show several years ago. Back then it was just a wild street car and nothing like the dedicated time attack weapon you see before you now.
Starting with a fresh S13 engine the bottom end was filled with Nitto goodies including a 91mm stroker crank and Nitto/JE pistons and Nitto rods giving a capacity of 2.2 litres. Up top Tomei Pro cams and gears operate solid lifters with Ferrera valves and springs. The whole deal was screwed together by the highly experienced crew at Croydon Racing Developments. A Greddy TDO6SH-25G 12cm turbo kit has been massaged by GCG for higher flow characteristics.
On the other side of the engine is a Hypertune inlet manifold holding a set of 2000cc Injector Dynamics injectors. Al this is controlled by a Haltech Sport 1000ECU with Haltech also getting the nod for the ignition and logging dash. A Direct Clutch twin plate clutch feeds the ample power rearward to a much stronger RB25 gearbox and a Nismo 2 way LSD with Driveshaft Shop driveshafts.
Wilkinson Suspension Centre have taken care of the suspension with a set of their custom coilovers being used on all four corners and a bunch of Whiteline and circuit sports stuff rounding out the package. The knuckles are by ETS and the brakes have certainly not been forgotten either with big 6 piston Wilwood units up front and some N1 GTR brakes on the rear with DBA rotors all round and Project Mu H16 pads.
The body kit is a complete Origin Streamline widebody with Moonface racing carbon doors and Lexan windows. Inside a roll cage has been welded in and the whole cabin has been stitch welded for added rigidity. The wheels are currently Enkei but will be AME Tracer TMR-01 at the WTAC.
After all of these years of hard work Andrew is itching to get in and blast around the track at the World Time Attack but he has also contracted “Mr Time Attack” himself John Boston to share the driving duties and to see “what it can really do”.
