World Time Attack 2011 will see many seasoned veterans return to the track. Every year they reappear faster and wilder than before and Nik “The Spartan” Kalis is no exception. After taking the outright Clubsprint trophy home at WTAC 2010 with a time of 1.44.3 in the QV Bar and Café backed EVO , Nik has had the boys at IS Motor racing burning the midnight oil in an effort to move up into the hotly contested Open Class.
The car is now sporting a full house 2.3 litre engine built by Indy at IS Motor Racing and jammed full of the best Japanese goodness and a PPG dog engagement gearbox and running on mean and green E85 fuel packs near 300kw@ all four wheels enough to push the little Evo into the high one minute thirties at eastern Creek in initial testing and grabbing a type record in the process .
Part of this big drop in time can also be attributed to the wide body kit or more specifically the super wide 295 Hankook Ventus TD Z221 tyres the car now wears giving the car a massive jump in lateral grip. So impressed were Hankook with Niks efforts that they will be supporting him for WTAC.
