When you first decide that you want to get involved in the whole time attack scene there are several paths you can go down. You can start from scratch and build yourself the car of your dreams or you could search around and find a car that is already built and fine tune it to suit your application which is exactly what Melbourne based tuning house Revzone have done. When they decided that they wanted to enter World Time Attack they went looking for an appropriate ride to enter. Their travels took them to Japan where they stumbled upon the original “Yellow Shark” R33 GTR that was campaigned by Osaka based GTR tuning specialists Auto Select before they upgraded to their current R34 GTR.
The vehicle was bought from a private owner who had purchased it directly from Autoselect and was in “as raced condition” meaning as soon as it hit the shores of Melbourne the team at Revzone set about giving the vehicle the complete once over replacing any components deemed ”tired” and setting the vehicle up for Australian conditions.
The first thing to get the heave was the old turbocharger being replaced with a nice fresh HKS TO4Z and while the guys were at it they replaced the complete exhaust and also to ensure 100% reliability the entire fuel system was replaced with all the latest gear and the ECU was remapped to suit Australian fuel.
The rest of the parts list on this car really does read like a catalogue with a complete HKS 2.8 litre stroker engine being kitted out with all the best parts available. The fuel system is Sard as is the radiator and nearly all the other engine ancillaries are by HKS including the intercooler and oil coolers. Most of the suspension is taken care of by Cusco including all the arms and the front and rear diffs are also by Cusco. The fully adjustable coil over’s were replaced by the Revzone with some Japanese Ohlins and the brakes are F50 Brembo with Endless rotors and the whole lot rolls on 18 X 10 TE37 Volk wheels.
So I guess you could say there is another Japanese time attack car running at WTAC it is just that this time it will be campaigned by an Australian team!
