There is no question that Suzuki-sans insane exploits as a privateer that punches way above his weight division in his self-built S chassis Nissan has struck a chord with many Silvia fans worldwide.
Nowhere has this been more evident than here in Sydney with both the Sutton brothers and the SX Developments guys both meeting him a couple of years ago at WTAC and walking away with a “whole new mindset” on what they wanted from their cars. What we have seen over the past couple of years is the direct result of this.
And with the Sutton s15 now moving up the new Garrett Pro Am class, the SX developments team have elected to refine their already potent S15 time attack car within the Open Class rules. And when we say refine we mean sticking a full house 2.3 litre VE engine built by Mazworks in the US between the chassis rails and then developing the dynamics of the vehicle to put all this power to the pavement and improving the lap times.
So what can expect from the SX team this year? “Let’s just say we ran 1.39.6 at Sydney Motorsport Park with the old engine and 265rwkw.” said James Anderson “The new engine has made 435rwkw on 26psi so as we come to terms with this enormous jump in power the lap times should start to fall dramatically. We should be a couple of seconds faster down the straight no matter what and if we can sort the handling out before October we should be close to where we need to be. Our team is a bunch of very hardcore enthusiasts that dedicate virtually all of our spare time to time attack racing”.
