When we talk Silvias, it is not uncommon these days to hear figures of 550-600hp in race configuration, but if we told you this one was packing an 800 plus horsepower punch you would probably think that it is just pub talk, that is until you open the carbon fibre hood of the Team Toyo/ Morpowa Time Attack car and see that the SR20 is long gone and in its place is a Toyota 2JZ engine stuffed full of the best bits money can buy,
With a Garrett GTX 35/40 turbo, Crower rods, CP pistons, HKS 272 camshafts, a custom inlet with a Motec ECU and 2100cc injectors and a healthy diet of E85 this car is built to do one thing and one thing only, Time Attack!! The theme continues to the suspension with a quartet of handmade MCA coilovers and huge Alcon brakes. The gearbox is PPG dog engagement with an Xtreme multi plate Carbon clutch and the team has been consulting with American aero-ace Andrew Brilliant to maximise the aero package prior to the big attack on Eastern Creek in August.
Simon Podlewski is also no stranger to motorsport before getting the time attack bug. In years gone by Simon has built and piloted a 9 second drag Lancer, back when nearly everyone else was yet to run such a time and the drag racing continued with a stint crewing on the legendary Willall racing drag GTR which at the time was the fastest in the country. From here Simon turned his hand to drift and became both the driver and crew chief on the legendary Team CTS S14 Silvia, with many podium finishes including a second outright in Drift Australia 2009 behind Luke Fink and was also runner up at the Tectaloy drift challenge 2010 behind Beau Yates. This began a relationship with Toyo tyres that still exists to this day with all of Simons setup on the Time Attack Silvia based upon months of testing on soft compound Toyo R888 tyres.
