Returning from a podium finish in 2010, Jason Hart and the Canberra based Ultimate tunes team will be returning with their eye on moving up to the top step in 2011. Never one to rest on their laurels the team have continued development throughout 2010 and into 2011 getting the car down into the low one minute range at their local Wakefield Park track. This has included a drastic weight reduction campaign and a switch to a larger turbo and also to the more power friendly and colder burning E85 fuel
This is an extremely well sorted car with a slick aero package that includes a new front splitter, a flat floor and rear diffuser and large wing and front and rear canards. A lot of thought has also gone into the engine and driveline ensuring that the vehicle not only has a ton of horsepower but also that it has a broad torque curve and that all the power is getting to the pavement. The engine package is a Haltech powered EJ22 taken out to 2.4 litres with forged internals and a PPG straight cut gearbox amongst a host of other modifications. The suspension arms have all been replaced with lightweight Chrome-moly adjustable versions and a set of Braid Racing wheels round out the extremely potent time attack package.
Ultimate Tunes is located in the centre of Canberra and was founded by Nick Tozzi in 2003. After being in the trade from the age of 16, he decided that it was time for a change in direction. His plan was to build a family based business alongside his wife and brother that upheld high standards, care, and the intension of building quality cars. To this day Ultimate Tunes is still a family business with these goals in mind. They also have a big following with the local motorsport community and this WRX is a showcase of their talents.
