The World Time Attack Challenge was created to give the Australian workshops a chance to compete against the World’s best and provide the enthusiasts with an event where the World’s Elite compete against each other on the same track under the same set of rules.
The theory went something like this; if enthusiasts experience the excitement of time attack competition they will be inspired to build time attack cars. This, in turn will provide tuning shops with work. If tuning shops get more work they’re more likely to build their own race cars. The more race cars are build and raced, the more money is channelled through the performance industry. That money can then be invested back into the event and help in bringing even more international cars. A healthy performance/tuning industry is good for everyone; enthusiasts, tuning shops, part sellers and manufacturers.
That’s what Ian Baker and myself promised when the ADVAN brand was launched to tuning shops and internet forum administrators at Sydney’s Cargo Bar in late 2009. Australia will now go down in history as having the World’s best time attack event!
Seeing competitor entries sell out in a single day, seeing sponsorship and trader stands full to capacity and seeing the initial online ticket sales easily pass that of the 2010 event it appears we may actually live up to our promise! All this is due to the blood, sweat and tears from the Superlap Australia crew, as well as the unwavering support from Yokohama, both in Australia and Japan.
So it’s with great pleasure that we announce ADVAN as the naming sponsor of the 2011 World Time Attack Challenge Pro Class. It’s only fitting that Yokohama’s best brings you the World Time Attack’s best. With top competitors from Japan, USA, New Zealand and Australia we hope the Eastern Creek lap record will be reclaimed by a time attack car after was being taken back by the V8 Supercars earlier this year.

There’ll be plenty of exciting things happening at the Yokohama ADVAN tent this year. We’ll debut an exciting new clothing range and show you a new virtual track competition for road registered cars. We’ll have an autograph session for the time attack drivers. There will also be a “cash and carry” special on ADVAN wheels and we’ll have the world’s most famous time attack car on display, the HKS CT230R!
