Revolution final shakedown before Sydney!

As the shipping date draws closer by the minute teams around the world are making last minute adjustments and looking for that one small change that may give them the edge over the very stiff competition at Eastern Creek in August. As with most other Japanese teams the Aoki-san and the Garage Revolution crew have been getting some time in on the large flowing Fuji Speedway that shares more in common with the Eastern Creek layout than the more renowned home of Japanese time attack, Tsukuba Circuit. They were testing ride height and geometry changes and also playing with the aero.

With the Eastern Creek top speed down the main straight closer to the 300km/h mark the guys have needed to make some changes to the diff ratio and setup and the guys from Prep’d Motorsport were kind enough to supply some data from the Lotus to get them in the ball park. They went out for a morning test session and clocked a 1.42.6 but this was with the top speed limited to 240km/h, however once they ”turned it up” they stopped the clocks at a sizzling 1.41.2 which is two tenths quicker than than the Cyber Evo has ever gone at Fuji, athough we suspect the Cyber team havent run their new setup at full noise yet.

Whatever the case we can guarantee you it is going to go down to the wire for sure this year with the American teams also deadset on the win too and a whole swag of Aussie teams that could well be right up there as well in 2011!!

We also couldnt resist showing you a picture of the really trick”double diffuser” Aoki-san and his crew built in carbon fibre for the RX7. It is quite amazing to see this technology  used in time attack racing as this is the very feature that caused all the contreversy in Formula One when the Brawn, Toyota and Williams cleverly adopted this technology at the start of the 2009 season. Is is clearly evident the Revolution guys know exactly what they are doing but it is just so damn cool to see the making everything in house.

While we are on the topic of owner made components another item that stood out on the Revolution car is that these guys actually make their own coilover shock absorbers too! And we dont mean they pull someone elses shocks apart and change a few things and call them their own, these are made from scratch on their inhouse CNC machine and tested in one of the fastest time attack machines on the planet.
