WTAC has become the one of the pinnacle motorsport events in the world and is attracting an increasing number of international competitors. This level of competition has brought with it technical expertise from the top levels of motorsport including Formula One.

To keep pace with this level of expertise WTAC has revised its rule book to ensure a healthy, safe and competitive playing field. The changes are minor but it’s important all competitors are aware of the changes as they may affect your car.

As we continue to refine the WTAC Rulebook we are continuously working with the technical department at CAMS to ensure that we provide the safest environment possible. We are proud of the fact that in our 7 years of international competition we have never had a serious injury and that is something we are looking to maintain well into the future.

What have we updated for 2017?

Below are the main points of the 2017 Rules Update. Please make sure you download and read the entire 2017 WTAC Technical Regulations and note ALL the changes will marked in red.

Note: There is no change to Open Class section 12.3.a. It has only been reverted to the previous version.

New Technical Director

For 2017 we are introducing our new Technical Director Steve Stanley. Steve was a divisional director of ANDRA and with many years of racing engineering experience, he will be making sure our Technical Regulations are of the highest standard.

For any questions about the Technical Regulations or any questions regarding the legality of modifications to your vehicle you can contact Steve Stanley:
Email: technical@worldtimeattack.com
Phone: +61 412 410 097 (Mon-Fri / 9AM-5PM AEST).

New Technical Regulations format.

The Technical Regulations have been changed from a single document to individual class specific documents in an effort to help avoid confusion on which rules apply to what class. Simply download the document relevant to your class and it will include all the information required for compliance to the Technical Regulations in that class.

During Event Scrutiny.

Any vehicle involved in an on-track incident including fluid leaks or component failure must now be checked and cleared by the chief scrutineer before going back on track.

We are also introducing penalties for repeat offenders up to and including exclusion from the event. This is to ensure that competitor track time is not jeopardised by someone else’s poor preparation.

Apparel for WTAC Open Class

Due to quicker lap times and faster overall speeds a Frontal Head Restraint such as a HANS® device (complying to FIA 8858-2002 or 8858-2010 standards) is now a compulsory requirement for Open Class.
