Thats right the reigning V8 Supercar champion Shane Van Gisbergen will be back with the MCA team for 2017 but this time he will be competing in the Honeywell Garrett International Drift Challenge.

After a disappointing show for the MCA 370z in 2016 the reigning Pro Class time attack champions will look to make amends in 2017 and are confident they now have a well sorted package. They will be counting on the talents of Shane Van Gisbergen to push the team back where they want to be.

“2016 was a difficult year for us with the drift car” said team principle Murray Coote “It was particularly disappointing as Chris Forsberg had flown all the way from the USA to drive for us and unfortunately we had a sensor fail that caused a bit of a domino effect and did irreparable engine damage and relegated us to the sideline. This year we will be coming in with a much more detailed preparation and are leaving no stone unturned in a quest for a double podium”

“We are certainly looking to defend our Pro Class title with Tim Slade again and Shane Van Gisbergen will be looking to win the Honeywell Garrett Drift Challenge that’s for sure!” said Coote ” And my son Josh is building a crazy Open Class car so we will certainly have a busy schedule. We have a small but very experienced team these days and most of the development is already done on this car, we just need the reliability and that has been our focus”

“I am seriously looking forward to getting back into a competitive drift car” said Shane Van Gisbergen “I did the promo shoot for Red Bull last year at SMSP but due to my busy work schedule I have not driven in a drift competition for quite a while and I really miss it. I really like working with the MCA guys too. This is going to be fun for sure but I will certainly be pushing for the win particularly against some of the world’s best.”

Make no mistake this is one serious car! Now packing an ex-Chris Forsberg VK 56 Nissan V8 filled with a Bryant billet crank, Oliver rods and JE Pistons topped with a 8 throttle injection manifold. An Autronic ECU combined with the latest Motec logging dash will ensure any problems are picked up well before they turn disastrous. The engine has been dynoed at 730hp and is backed by a Holinger HS6 sequential and a trick LSD. As expected MCA coil overs feature on all 4 corners as well as a Voodoo lock kit. Certainly a car and driver package capable of mixing with the best in the business!
