Sierra Sierra have been in a stage of continual development since their win at Buttonwillow in November in preparation for WTAC and over the past weekend the results speak for themselves with David Empringham bettering (in practice) the longstanding time attack record at Buttonwillow with a time of 1.43.4. The record lap time of 1.43.5 was set by the infamous HKS 230R Lancer driven by Nobihiro Taniguchi in 2007.
With a successful background in open wheel formula Atlantic racing, this team is very well resourced, and with Eric Hsu from Cosworth USA looking after the engine, things seem to move very quickly in the right direction and you can be assured they are deadly serious about taking the WTAC trophy back to USA with them in May.
The car is now fitted with a larger TO4 turbo mounted on a Full Race manifold, larger camshafts, revised front end geometry and many other changes. With the car due to leave the US for Australian shores in mid April you can rest assured this is one car bound to be right at the pointy end in May at Eastern Creek when Australian fans get their chance to catch it in action!
