Anyone even slightly into the drift scene in Australia would be well aware of the engineered to slide website where Nigel Petrie documents what he refers to as “drift life in detail” on his blog. As well as offering a range of manufactured components, Nigel also keeps people up to date with a very special project that he’s got going in his shed.
To an untrained eye this would appear way outside the realm of possibility for the average guy – but we are definitely not talking about an average guy here. You see, by day Nigel works as a development fitter and turner at Ford’s prototype division, where he has managed to acquire the skills necessary to turn his dream into reality.
Starting with nothing more than an idea and a pile of steel tube, Nigel has managed to build one of the most insane drift creations ever to see the light of day.
Planned to debut at the Tectaloy Drift Challenge, the project was delayed due the enormity of the amount of work still left to be completed. Instead, Nigel has decided to compete in his faithful Red 180SX, but when he asked us to show the world where he is up to, we gladly accommodated. So while Nigel is competing in his 180SX at the Tectaloy Drift Challenge, his project ute will be displayed in its own Engineered to Slide display tent and is definite “must see”.

Fantastic; a massive task but achievable by Nigel.
