As previously mentioned we will be continuing to refine the 2013 rulebook over the coming weeks. Do not expect any “wholesale” changes after February as we understand people are building cars already but what we will be doing is simply refining what we already have written, and ensuring we have the best possible rule set into the future.
A majority of the changes this time are in regards to the Clubsprint Class and many are as a result of numerous observations of competitor’s vehicles and to ensure we have a level playing field that does not favor one make or model of vehicle and that would ruin the “spirit of the event”
The changes are as follows and please ensure you have updated your rules to version 1.3 February 2013.
1. Clubsprint interior
f. removable steering wheels are permitted if the vehicle is fitted with a roll cage as a safety precaution with regard to entry and exit access.
2. Clubsprint aero
c. OEM rear wings or aftermarket rear wings with up to two separate horizontal elements may be used in unmodified form. The width of the wing must not exceed the widest part of the body. Only one aftermarket wing per vehicle is permitted.
3. Clubsprint engine
a. Vehicles must retain the originally designated engine however the use of a turbocharger or supercharger is allowed and the use of a larger capacity engine of the same designation can be used, eg an RB20 engine may be replaced by an RB30. Original engine mounting points must be utilized.
4. Clubsprint body
c. OEM Fenders may be “rolled” for tyre clearance. No cutting, welding or adding any material. The top 1/3 of the tyre must not protrude outside the guard when the wheels are facing forwards
5. Clubsprint competition
v. All vehicles in Clubsprint Class must carry current road registration. Rally registration is acceptable. In states where rally rego is not available an unregistered vehicle permit is required
6. Pro Class aero
o. Rear wing assembly design is free and may extend up to 150mm per side wider than the original coachwork in front view and above the horizontal line from the highest point of the roof.
Also the following cars have been added to the Supercar list that is not eligible to compete in Clubsprint Class
Dodge Viper, Aston Martin All, Mercedes SLS or any Black series, McLaren All, TVR All, Lexus LFA, Ford GT.
For obvious reasons none of the above vehicles are in the spirit of a “tuner style’ event and present a clear advantage from the manufacturer.
Stay tuned for more updates.

I agree with the change to rule 3(a) with regard to fitting turbochargers. The way the rule was, if your car was turbo from the factory the turbocharger was free along with level of boost, therefore allowing unlimited boost. For example these vehicles could run 3 bar or more absolute, however if the car was NA from the manufacturer you were not able to fit a turbo, this effectively applied a boost limit of 1 bar absolute (atmospheric pressure) to these vehicles. I believe this does in fact help to “level the playing field”.
3 (a) – Allowing supercharging/turbocharging any vehicle.
I’m not sure how this ” levels the playing field” and keeps Clubsprint the “entry level” class. This will allow a whole swag of ‘Supercars’ (turbo s2000′s, Turbo Lotus) that will easily beat the car’s you list as Supercars (eg Corvette, R35).
Maybe a re-think of this rule?
