Anyone that follows the drift scene in Australia will know of a certain V8 powered Corolla that is driven by a crazy young Tasmanian named Lloyd Smith, in fact he has become somewhat of a YouTube sensation with his insane antics around Baskerville raceway in the Tasmanian drift series of which he is currently leading the points and in August he will be loading up and heading North to take on the best in the business at the Tectaloy International Drift Challenge.
To most young guys the dream of getting a drivers licence is usually followed by getting a car and then perhaps going to your local racetrack and getting into some form of motorsport be it drift, time attack or whatever. But this is not the case with Hobart based Lloyd Smith. You see at age seventeen, Lloyd Smith is already a drift veteran having started his career at the tender age of 14 in a homebuilt CA18 powered Corolla before progressing to a Silvia and then onto this insane monster you see in the pictures!

With the support of the family building company Lloyd is now driving an AE71 Corolla with a a stove hot 4 litre Lexus V8 shoehorned between the rails and the air horns of eight throttle bodies poking proudly through the bonnet. To hear this car in full song is an experience as it sounds more like a hot blooded Nascar than it does an old Corolla.
Lloyd will be supported at the Tectaloy international drift challenge, by Falken tyres and his father and brother who were instrumental in building this well thought out car. With high compression, a set of big Kelford camshafts and a Haltech ECU giving the Lexus engine some extra punch and the lightweight Toyota body with some very clever suspension mods this team is very keen to see how they can mix it with the best. Make sure you check out the video footage and as with Mad Mikes car TURN UP THE SOUND!
