We are excited to announce the three-time Formula Drift Japan Champion, Andrew Gray, has entered in the Garrett International Drifting Cup in his world-famous 1000HP Toyota JZX100 Chaser! Although he lives and competes predominantly in Japan, Gray has chosen to fly the flag high for his mother country of Scotland.
He is widely renowned for an extremely aggressive driving style and undoubtedly gets in more drift practice than any other person on earth with his internationally renowned Powervehicles business (https://www.powervehicles.com/) based on the grounds of the world famous Ebisu circuit – quite possibly the most famous drift track on the planet!
The car that Andrew will be bringing to Australia is the very same car that took him to two of the three Formula Drift Championships. It has just undergone a full freshen up in preparation for its journey down under and features a 3.4L HKS 2JZ with a GCG Garrett GTX4088 taking care of the boost.
The Chaser makes a strong and responsive 1000HP, and has been a proven package for Andy and his insane driving style. You can expect some huge runs from this Scot as he lists Sydney as one of his favourite tracks.
“I’m super excited to be going back to Oz to be part of such a massive event,” says Gray.
“It’s been a good few years since I raced in Australia and can’t wait to get back there to see so many friends and battle such great drivers. I’m super pumped to get back on the Sydney Motorsport Park course, one of my most favourite tracks in the world, in a car I’m very familiar with after campaigning it successfully for a number of years in FD Japan.”
“I relish the chance to take on the locals on their home soil and get sideways with some of the best drivers from Japan and the rest of the world! See you all in October!”
