Tarzan Yamada is confirmed to drive the Car Mods Australia (CMA) / CUSCO WRX STI in the 2019 WTAC GCG Open Class! This means both Tarzan and Keiichi ‘Drift King’ Tsuchiya will be going head-to-head in competition!
Yamada is a two-time WTAC Pro Class Champion in the legendary Cyber Evo and brings a wealth of experience to the team who have prepared a very serious weapon and have made their intentions clear – They are not competing for a participation medal! A podium finish is the goal with the title of Australia’s fastest WRX also clearly in their cross hairs.
The CMA/CUSCO WRX has just had a complete overhaul and is now packing a very serious punch with 580kW (778HP) at all four wheels. The engine is a closed-deck sleeved 2.5 litre engine running maximum levels of boost, courtesy of a Garrett GTX 3584 Turbo and a full array of Turbosmart gear. This is fed through a paddle-shifted PPG 6 speed sequential transmission to a pair of Cusco diffs. All of this is controlled by a full Motec system.
Recent testing has proved extremely promising with an outright win at the Subinats at Phillip Island and a further shakedown at Queensland Raceway showing serious promise in the lead up to WTAC.
