WTAC IS JUST HOURS AWAY!

The 2026 Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge is almost upon us, with just a handful of sleeps separating us from the best festival of fast in the southern hemisphere! The globe’s best time attack cars have been prepared meticulously and are ready to put everything they have on the line in the hunt for One Perfect Lap.

Kunihiko Bando has brought his B-A-R RSC300 back to run in the Emtron Pro Class after last year’s disappointment. Joining Bando in Pro Class will be 2025 winner Todd Hazelwood in the Tanuki S13, plus Alex Rullo in the Intellispacial Fleetcare Lamborghini Gallardo, FSU Racing’s R33 GT-R Skyline piloted by former-winner Tim Slade, and two new builds on debut. 

Plazmaman Pro Am class will see a second American Corvette enter the fray as Clay Shearer’s blue C5 join Feras Qartoumy’s class-winning, record-holding twin-turbo C6 ‘Vette. All up there is a bumper field of 14 entrants in this hyper-competitive class, and the action is sure to be tight, fast and frantic. 

In MoTeC Pro Open Kazuyoshi Okamura’s Yashio Factory Silvia will tackle Rob Nguyen’s 2025 class-winning Dream Project S15 and Nathan Morcom’s GAS Evo, with five others ready to snatch the class win. Amazingly, there are 62 cars entered into GCG Open, Haltech Clubsprint, and Yokohama-Advan Tuner classes, showing the health of the sport.

The time attack crews won’t be alone at WTAC, though. The 2026 Exedy Australia International Drifting Cup is back once again, ready to bring some of the world’s top drifters Down Under to throw down, door-to-door and with the back tyres completely on fire. For 2026 the drifting competition will only run on Thursday night, September 3, and Friday night September 4, with Saturday night (September 5) reserved for the all-new Mayhem After Dark on-track party. 

The new Mayhem After Dark show (or M.A.D) will feature some of the best drivers around, including Luke Fink in his Patrol, Jay Duca in his diesel Torana, Robbie Nishida driving Jay’s four-rotor Commodore, Mike Lake’s drift Lamborghini, Mitch Pullen’s Hilux, and more. Lady drifters are well-represented, too, as Japanese star Momo Yuura wheels the Rocket Bunny R32, a WTAC debut for Niamh Dillon, action from Catherine “Driftcat” Coleiro, New Zealand’s Kim “Driftmama” Thorley and a stack more. 

For demos WTAC 2026 is off the chain. Two of Japan’s most-legendary names, Eiji “Tarzan” Yamada and CUSCO, are reuniting. Tarzan won the WTAC outright in 2010 and 2011, and has a long history of driving hardcore Cusco hardware here. 

Now, in 2026 Tarzan will take the wheel of one of the most-iconic motorsport Subarus in existence: the CUSCO GT300 GC8 Subaru Impreza. Designed to run in the second-tier GT300 class of the JGTC (later Super GT) racing series from the last round of the 1997 series, the tube-frame privateer Subie took a couple of round wins ahead of more-fancied factory-backed efforts.
