The Emtron Pro class at the 2024 Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge quickly became a game of “can RP968 run a 16”. With the Scura Exige hurting its Honda K-series engine on Thursday, and Rodin using the event as a shakedown for their Sintura, the four-time champions broke their own lap record each day.
Barton pushed a 1:17.672 on Saturday morning to push his own lap record two-tenths lower than in 2023. With track temps cooling into the Supercheap Auto Shootout was set to be his best shot at breaking the RP968 into the 1:16 bracket.
The cooling evening air set the stage for a cracker lap, and Bart didn't disappoint running a 1:17.444 to wind up taking nearly half a second off his 2023 record and win the event for a record fifth time in a row.
Having pushed hard to build their Sintura for the event, Rodin knew this year would be a learning experience. Josh Buchan ran solid laps with a PB of 1:27.010 proving the Sintura will be a force to be reckoned with in coming years.
Full results will be posted shortly.
