Nathan Morcom in the GAS Evo is in the lead of GCG Open class at the 2024 Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge with a 1:27.02, but it is almost anyone's game.
Fan favourite Rob Nguyen brought the legendary Mighty Mouse CRX back after retiring the car several years ago. With a refreshed K-series powerplant and new aero, he's run 1:28.5 to put him right in the mix for the Saturday Supercheap Auto Shootout.
Rounding out the GCG Open podium on Day 1 is Benny Tran and his BYP Racing Integra. Benny ran a blistering 1:30.5 but blew an engine as he crossed the finish line.
While the Top Three are tighter than an over-sized door, Tim Slade in the Xtreme GT-R ran a reported 1:24 lap but the session was red-flagged as he crossed the line, making the lap time ineligible. Watch out for the reigning Open Class champion tomorrow as he'll be out to show the Xtreme GT-R's true pace.
