Get ready, Sydney! The asphalt is about to be shredded, and the air filled with the iconic scream of a four-rotor as the World Time Attack Challenge (WTAC) proudly announces the highly anticipated return of drift legend Mad Mike Whiddett to the Garrett International Drifting Cup in 2025. And he's not coming alone. Mike is bringing a true piece of his personal history and a rotary beast reborn: his legendary FURSTY Mazda 808 station wagon.

For those who’ve followed the journey of Mad Mike, FURSTY is more than just a drift car; it’s a living testament to his roots. Although the FURSTY plate has adorned many of Mad Mike's infamous builds, this very 1976 Mazda 808 wagon was Mike’s original street weapon, the car that first cemented his reputation for audacious car control and that unmistakable rotary symphony. After selling FURSTY almost two decades ago to fuel his drifting pursuits, Mike reacquired it in 2023. What followed has been a no-holds-barred, professional-grade reincarnation into a serious D1GP Japan contender that has captivated the automotive world and set social media ablaze.

FURSTY is no longer the humble wagon of yesteryear. Under the meticulous hands of long-time collaborator Kawato-san from TCP Magic in Japan, it has been transformed into a truly bespoke, track-devouring drift monster. The once-modest chassis now boasts a full FIA-spec roll cage, an aggressive 150mm body drop, and a completely custom front and rear suspension setup. Wrapped in a custom Rocket Bunny wide-body kit, adding a staggering 180mm to each side, FURSTY rolls into Sydney Motorsport Park with a menacing, wide-stance presence that will undoubtedly be an instant crowd favourite.

But it’s what lies within that truly makes FURSTY sing the song of its people: a naturally-aspirated TCP Magic 26B four-rotor engine, pushing a spine-tingling 600whp, with a nitrous oxide system poised to unleash an additional 100hp when the moment demands. This pure, unadulterated rotary soundtrack, combined with an HGT 6-speed sequential gearbox and Bulldog quick-change differential, promises a spectacle of precision, power, and the kind of high-RPM rotary theatrics only Mad Mike can deliver.

Mike’s deep personal history with this machine – from its humble beginnings as his street skidder to its current incarnation as a world-class drift contender – adds an unparalleled layer of narrative to his WTAC appearance. Witnessing Mad Mike command FURSTY as it dances door-to-door with some of Australia and the world's best talent, laying down thick clouds of tyre smoke, will be a truly unmissable moment at WTAC 2025.

The Garrett International Drifting Cup, held both nights of the Yokohama World Time Attackj Challenge event, is renowned for its electrifying battles and showcasing the planet's elite drift talent, providing the ultimate stage for Mike’s wild wagon to make its highly anticipated Australian debut. Prepare for an unforgettable display of sideways action, the iconic rotary scream, and legendary car control as Mad Mike and FURSTY aim to leave an indelible mark on WTAC 2025.
