Prepare for a true automotive legend to grace Sydney Motorsport Park at the Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge 2025! We are thrilled to announce that the revered founder of Spoon Sports, Tatsuru Ichishima, will be in attendance, and his iconic EK9 Civic Type R demo car will be on display at the Yokohama ADVAN display zone at WTAC 2025, thanks to the support of Honda specialists and Spoon Sports authorised distrubutor JDMYARD.

The Spoon Sports EK9 Civic Type R is far more than just a demo vehicle; it's the profound embodiment of Spoon Sports' unwavering dedication to Honda's engineering potential. Founded in 1988 by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, Spoon Sports emerged with a singular vision: to meticulously engineer and refine Honda vehicles for unparalleled performance and reliability. Inspired by the challenging "Spoon Curve" at Suzuka Circuit, the company's philosophy has always prioritised balance, precision, and the relentless pursuit of speed through intelligent design and painstaking development.

Their vibrant blue and yellow liveried cars are instantly recognizable and represent the pinnacle of naturally aspirated performance. This dedication to brand identity even extends to the Spoon Sports 'crane' logo, a clever play on Ichishima-san's given name, Tatsuru, as 'tsuru' in Japanese directly translates to 'crane'.

This particular EK9, in Spoon's iconic blue and yellow livery, represents decades of track testing, continuous innovation, and a deep understanding of how to unlock every last ounce of performance from Honda's revered VTEC engines. It's a living legend that has not only dominated racetracks but has also profoundly influenced countless enthusiasts and tuners worldwide, solidifying Spoon Sports' legacy as a true titan in the world of JDM performance.

Adding to the excitement, Ichishima-san and Spoon Sports Japan CEO Takuya Kai will be available for scheduled stage meet-and-greets and autograph sessions on both days of WTAC 2025. This is a truly unique chance to personally connect with the visionary behind Spoon Sports. Furthermore, dedicated fans will be able to purchase official Spoon Sports parts and merchandise directly from the JDMYARD/Hardrace Suspension trade stand, conveniently located at Block C of trader alley, ensuring you can take a piece of this legendary brand home with you.
