Get ready, time attack fans, because a new contender is about to shatter expectations at the Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge 2025! Accompanying our launch of the new season of Road to WTAC video series, we're thrilled to announce the highly anticipated debut of the Dylan Auton's absolutely wild Datsun 1600. This isn't your average classic Datsun; it's a Frankenstein's monster of performance, a mash of old school cool and high-end Supercars engineering, doused in a heavy serve of carbon fibre and designed with one goal in mind: be the fastest Datsun, ever.

Underneath its iconic Datsun shell lies the beating heart of an ex-Kelly Racing Nissan V8 Supercar engine. This isn't just any V8; now pumped out to a whopping 6.0L, this heart is a descendant of Nissan's robust VK56DE production engine, but heavily re-engineered for elite motorsport. Featuring a dry-sump oiling system and precision-tuned to Supercars specifications, it delivers a formidable punch of around 640-660HP in its original specs, however a MoTeC-controlled mass injection of nitrous oxide will definitely see this number skyrocket in competition. The challenge for the team has been ingeniously packaging this formidable powerplant into the compact Datsun chassis while maintaining optimal weight distribution.

But the engineering marvels don't stop there. The car features full Supercar uprights, a critical element that elevates the Datsun's handling to an entirely new level. These bespoke components are engineered for extreme loads and offer unparalleled rigidity and precision, allowing for aggressive suspension geometry, optimal camber and caster control, and the integration of large, high-performance AP Racing LMP-spec carbon brakes – all crucial for shaving milliseconds off lap times.

The entire aerodynamic package has been meticulously sculpted by the legendary Andrew Brilliant of AMB Aero. Brilliant, a name synonymous with time attack success, employs cutting-edge computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to design aero solutions that are both highly effective and often visually striking. With Andrew's history in the time attack space, you can rest assured that all components work in perfect harmony to generate immense downforce, pinning this beastly Datsun to the tarmac through Sydney Motorsport Park's fastest sections.

Adding to the excitement, this formidable machine will be piloted by none other than Supercars hotshot James Golding. As a current full-time Supercars driver for PremiAir Nulon Racing, Golding brings a wealth of experience in high-downforce, high-power machinery. His aggressive driving style and ability to extract every ounce of performance from a vehicle will undoubtedly be a spectacle to behold as he pushes this Datsun to its absolute limit.

Owner Dylan Auton's choice of platform for the Datsun is deeply personal, stemming from his family's rich history with Datsuns in motorsport. This passion project, combining classic heritage with bleeding-edge technology and a top-tier driver, has culminated in a truly unique and formidable machine. The team will race at WTAC 2025 under the name Nulon Racing, a highlight of the support the Australian oil brand has thrown behind this insane car and driver combo.

The brand-new MoTeC Pro Open class is anticipated to be one of the hottest classes of racing this year. With its unique blend of classic cool and cutting-edge Supercar technology, the Nulon Racing Datsun is poised to become a fan favourite and a serious threat for top honours at WTAC 2025.
