The Festival of Fast is Here: 2026 Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge Drops Tomorrow

The wait is done. Tomorrow morning, Sydney Motorsport Park becomes ground zero for the fastest, most violent engineering experiments on four wheels as the 2026 Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge kicks off two days of pure track war.

This isn’t pack racing; it’s an unforgiving, mechanical siege against the SMSP asphalt. Classes span from the street-rooted grit of Haltech Clubsprint and GCG Open, up to the aero madness of Plazmaman Pro Am and EMTRON Pro, flanked by MoTeC Pro Open and Yokohama-Advan NEOVA Tuner. Every millisecond won comes down to billet blocks running stupid boost, wind-tunnel-carved carbon and drivers holding it pinned through the bends.

Thursday’s practice saw some wild action in preparation for the event, with the wild Corvette piloted by Feras Qartoumy spinning at nearly 300km/h thanks to a spoiler issue - now resolved. If you thought Uber is just for food and a lift home after a few frothies, you’d be right. And you’d be also right if you said it was for bringing spare parts to the track - Rob Nguyen’s Dream Project S15 needed parts rushed into SMSP. What drama will unfold on Friday?

When the time attack timers switch off, the rev limiters don't. The EXEDY Australia International Drifting Cup lights up the South Circuit under the glare of SMSP’s bright lights, sending world-class drift talent door-to-door at triple digits. Straight-line violence returns with the head-to-head Turbosmart Flying 500, while the paddock packs out with the Shannons StylizeD Show And Shine and wild, uncensored garage builds.
