WTAC 2024: 30TH - 31ST AUGUST

WTAC 2025 Dates Announced: New Classes, Updated Rules, and Unmissable Action To Come!

The Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge (WTAC) is thrilled to announce the dates for its next electrifying event, set to take place at Sydney Motorsport Park on Friday and Saturday, September 5th and 6th, 2025. As time attack racing continues to push the boundaries of performance and engineering, WTAC 2025 will mark the start of a new era for the sport with the introduction of new classes and a revised rule set designed for fairer competition and long-term sustainability. The 2025 World Time Attack Challenge is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW.

Introducing a New, Evolved Ruleset and Class Structure

This year, WTAC’s updated ruleset was crafted with input from the worldwide time attack community and respected motorsport experts, paving the way for a future where innovation, engineering excellence, and competitive spirit can thrive.

We are introducing two new classes: Tuner Class which slides in under Clubsprint regulations to hark back to our roots and enhance the accessibility of entering World Time Attack Challenge to budget-conscious competitors, encouraging creative engineering and design within the ruleset to squeeze the best time out of their given platforms. It will be a class that rewards improvement and driver ability over outright lap times, and provide a step up into Clubsprint. Expect to see some of Australia's greatest street-driven project cars step into this category!

The other new class we are introducing is Pro Open Class which will be an advanced ruleset based on the current Open Class with a few more freedoms allowed which will bridge the gap between Open and Pro Classes, which are seeing lap times comparable to our previous generation of Pro Class cars. These new freedoms include additional aerodynamic allowances and the use of the Yokohama A005 slick tyre.

All other existing classes have a revised ruleset to better define and provide clarity for car owners and builders alike. By clearly defining new parameters, these changes aim to inspire and re-ignite the passion of designers and engineers, setting the stage for a wave of new builds to challenge the reigning champions. With enhanced freedoms and clarified definitions, WTAC 2025 promises to be the arena where cutting-edge designs meet creative engineering on the global stage.
