World Time Attack Challenge (WTAC) organisers have confirmed that Japanese competitor Yuuki Kamakura has been granted clearance to compete at WTAC 2026 in the GCG Open Class.

The entry follows a comprehensive regulatory review regarding Kamakura’s conduct at the 2025 event. While the incident sparked massive viral attention and fan curiosity, it represented a severe breach of safety protocols and resulted in an official reprimand.
Following formal disciplinary proceedings, officials accepted a formal apology from Kamakura, who expressed a clear desire to right his wrongs.

"I am truly grateful for the opportunity to return to WTAC," Kamakura stated. "First and foremost, I want to express my deepest and most sincere apologies for my actions last year, which caused a great deal of trouble and concern for the WTAC organizers, our sponsors, the team, and all of our fans."
"I have reflected deeply on my behavior and have learned a great deal from it. That is precisely why I feel immensely honored to stand on this stage once again this year. I am incredibly thankful to everyone who has given me this second chance."

"This year, it isn't just about the results. I want to truly enjoy the world's premier time attack event from the bottom of my heart, and share an incredible experience with my team, peers and rivals. I intend to give absolutely everything I have out on the track, and show my personal growth through my actions as well," says Yuuki.
While WTAC supports a path to driver redemption, officials emphasise that this return comes with strict conditions of adhering to explicit competitor guidelines.

To preserve event integrity and guarantee the safety of crew, officials, and spectators, WTAC has implemented upgraded behavioral regulations for 2026. Tougher penalties, including immediate event disqualification, will be strictly enforced for any future infringements.
