Tanuki takes WTAC 2025

The action at the 2025 Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge has been off the Richter scale, with record times, good vibes, and awesome Sydney spring weather. Todd Hazelwood pedalled out a lightning-fast 1:18.169 to win the 2025 Yokohama WTAC and the Emtron Pro Class. 

Plazmaman Pro Am has been dominated by Feras Qartoumy’s Corvette, setting a new lap record during the Supercheap Auto Superlap Shootout. The well-travelled Chevy pumped a 1:25.380 on Day One, but backed it up in the Shootout with a blistering 1:23.269 to break the class lap record set by the Tilton Evo (1:24.6300) way back in 2018. 

MoTeC Pro Open class put on an incredible show at its first outing. Tim Slade was on a mission in the Extreme GT-R in the Supercheap Auto Superlap Shootout, running a 1:22.884 screamer lap to push Nguyen hard. But Rob had an ace up his sleeve with a 200kW nitrous kit, and he was able to knock out a 1:22.216 to take the win even though the Dream Project S15 smashed its tailshaft before it crossed the finish line.

Darren Bishop’s Mitsubishi Evo has dominated the GCG Open Class at the 2025 Yokohama WTAC, running a 1:26.819. Josh Muggleton pushed hard to finish the event second in class with a solid 1:28.023 in the Superlap Shootout.

The Haltech Clubsprint class saw action aplenty and an epic new class record at Sydney Motorsport Park. In the Supercheap Auto Superlap Shootout Michael Garland pushed his GotItRex GC8 Impreza up the leaderboard with a belter 1:31.413 before Alex Michalsky came out and smashed the Clubsprint lap record with a scintillating 1:30.718 lap to take the win. 

The brand new Yokohama-Advan NEOVA Tuner class has brought an awesome grassroots vibe back to the 2025 WTAC. Adam Casmiri landed the Lamspeed GR Yaris at the head of the pack on Day Two, with a 1:35.485 stamping his authority on the class before mechanical dramas counted him out of the Supercheap Auto Superlap Shootout.
